Newborn Sessions

Scheduling your session

When your baby arrives, it is going to be a lot of sleepless nights and hard work.  The last thing you are going to want to do is call a photographer to schedule your session.

This is why I recommend scheduling your session at least 6 weeks in advance.  We will schedule a tentative date according to your due date.  This way you don't have to worry once your little bundle of joy arrives.

I love to consult with you before hand so that we can make sure I have all the color combinations you are wanting and we can style the session to best suit your needs.

I also provide a custom made hat or headband that is yours to take home after the session so I want it to be something you will love and be memorable.

Once your little one arrives, you can contact me to set up a time that works best for everyone.

Newborns are best photographed within the first 12 days of life.

Before the shoot

With a new baby everything is new! It takes time to get into a rhythm and schedule with your little one so therefore predicting the time they sleep best can be hard.

If you can manage to have baby fed and changed before the shoot this will greatly increase chances of sleep! {If you can’t don’t worry, I have many tricks to use to help put or keep them asleep!}

If you have any props or outfits that you want to include in the shoot make sure to bring them with you

During the session

Babies are unpredictable! At just a few days old there is no such thing as a regular schedule. I completely understand this and so I always block out at least 2-4 hours for your session to make sure we have plenty of time to work with.

I have a huge bag full of tricks to help make the session as successful as possible but it really all depends on how baby is feeling. The biggest thing I can stress to you is that you shouldn’t stress! If we do nude shots and they poop or pee DO NOT WORRY! They are not the first and they won’t be the last. I have plenty of props to work with and I always plan on walking away with a pile of things that need washing so Do. Not. Worry. {I seriously can’t stress that enough! Babies will feed off of your stress so make sure you are just ready to make this the best experience possible and it will turn out great! I promise!}

The room will be plenty warm when shooting so make sure to dress in layers or lightly to keep from overheating you. I LOVE to involve the parents and siblings in a few shots with baby if they are up for it, so wear something nice or even just a solid black shirt works great as well.
